Cave exploration: Torhola cave, Lohja

In early June of 2026 the Finnish Caving Society will explore the Torhola limestone cave (30m horizontal reach, 100m of passages). Our aim is to measure and photograph some stuff, maybe model parts of the cave (again), and discuss the structure and the details of the cave. We hope to come to a conclusion on the age of the cave and on its development. This study is about the cave and the Weichselian glaciation, weight of the ice, water freezing as the pressure drops, and isostatic rebound. Some sea shells are studied, too. While this exploration trip has some set goals, there might be other studies performed as well, depending on the interests of the participants.
